We couldn't get very close to the hippos. They kill more people than any other animal. What a surprise! People near the water are in danger! They will stomp on you or clamp down and crush you.
Sue, we rarely got out of the vehicle! But we did get out to see the hippos. We got specific instructions....single file behind Margo and Lawrence who had the rifles...no talking allowed. It made me nervous. Also made me nervous being so close to the lions. Two elephants challenged our range rover defender but Margo talked the down. That too made me uncomfortable....but we trusted her wholeheartedly!
I hope you were using a telephoto lens or something - stay back! 😜
